Creative Workshop: Natural Pigments with Audrey Louise Reynolds

  • 3317 Route 207 Goshen, New York USA (map)

Spend the afternoon with colorist Audrey Louise Reynolds at Goshen Green Farm to create a unique gift with natural eco-friendly paints and dyes. The workshop will include lunch, wine, hot teas, and gift making by the fire.

Dubbed the fashion world’s artisanal dyer by the NYTimes, Audrey Louise Reynolds uses right and left-brained instincts to create her dyes. She uses all-natural ingredients, foraged and sourced from daily life, travels, and unexpected encounters. Everything from minerals, seaweed, squid ink, coral, shells, plankton, flowers, and earth can find its way into her boiling pot. But it’s not a willy-nilly pinch-o-this-dash-o-that tizzy. It’s science-based hypothesis that leads to trial and error experimentation, give and take, adding and extracting, cooking, recording and sweating, to make these dyes and perfect these techniques. Only through a thorough examination of her material and its intended use is she able to set the parameters for color.

You are also invited to give new life to an old natural fiber garment i.e. dingy cotton t-shirt, stained white silk blouse, etc. by overdying for an additional fee.

The workshop fee of $100 includes materials and lunch. Purchase tickets here. Masks or proof of vaccination required.
